Clear Your Record — Set Asides & Restoring Rights
Old convictions can quietly block job opportunities, professional licenses, housing, immigration status, and even your ability to own a firearm. I handle set asides for misdemeanors, felonies, and even federal felonies. I pay attention to the details Arizona’s standard forms miss, so that your record is actually updated in the federal database — including the information needed to restore your rights. The reason these are called, Set Asides is because we set aside, or vacate you conviction of guilty, and dismiss the charges. There are some exceptions, I can not remove a sex related felony. But I can file a motion to remove you from life time probation under certain circumstances. The reason this area of law is so important is because even a non violence offense such as disorderly conduct, which could be yelling, or criminal damage, throwing and breaking your own dinner plate at a wayward teenage son, can result in a charge of domestic violence and prevent you from owning a firearm, or cause you to be deported, even if you are a legal resident. Also a federal or state felony conviction can prevent you from running for local political office, or vote.
